The phases of the Moon: DOC and COD. If we see the Moon in the shape D it
is waxing and C it is waning. O is full-moon. In the Southern Hemisphere it
is the other way.

The Solar eclipse occurs on a New-moon day and the Lunar on a full-moon
day. The declination of the Sun and the Moon must be same to cause a Solar
eclipse. It must be the opposite to cause a lunar eclipse.

A lunar eclipse precedes [ a fortnight before] or follows[ a fortnight
after] the solar eclipse.
