CULTURAL QA 08-2023-12

Q1         How do you efficiently clean your homein the right order?

A1          Gopala Krishnan,Former AssistantGeneral Manager 1996-2004 at
Department of Telecom (1966–2004)Just now

If you are talkingabout the order of cleaning, in south India, it is from front
to back. Front ofthe home is cleaned, watered and Rangoli is drawn. This
indicates no sorrowful event in the home.

The Portico, sitout, Tulsi plant area are cleaned outside, then inside hall,
pooja room, kitchen, work area, are cleaned. If store is there it is also
cleaned.

Next bed rooms andtoilet are cleaned. Finally toilets.

Then outside homeon all sides are cleaned. All these are carried out  in the
morning. If needed maid’s help istaken.

In evening frontside and back side are cleaned, special efforts taken to clean
North East andSouth West. Cooking area and work area are cleaned before
lighting lamp.

For Tulsi morningwatering is done by a person of the family. Evening lamp is
also lighted by aperson of the family,

The custom oflighting lamp by elders/youngsters, women/ men differ with areas.

Added note- Inside cleaning is done by eitherplastic brooms/ palm flower
brooms. And moping is done.

Outside cleaning isdone with coconut broom.

Deep cleaning offurniture is done using vacuum cleaner once a month. Normally
dusting is donedaily.

Terrace cleaning isdone using plastic brooms as and when required.

Q2         What is the best and safest method ofwater purification?

A2          Venkateswara Swamy Swarna, FormerScientist, Metallurgist, Quality /
NDT Manager at Department of Atomic Energy,India (1967–2008)Thu

Just let itevaporate and collect the evaporated water vapor and condense it
into water. That will be pure enough without any other chemicals and filters
etc. But this may or may not befeasible and many other factors need to be
considered.

Depending on thevolume that you need, domestic water purifiers with multi-stage
filtrationincluding RO and UVsterilisation are considered to be safe enough.

You can also consider getting Bisleri 20 liter waterrefill bottles for your
consumption like we do. Weuse that for cooking and drinking and use normal tap
water and bore-well waterfor clothes washing, utensil cleaning and bathing.

Q3         Do you know a joke about pilots?

A3          Andras Lu,8h

Two men dressed in pilot's uniforms walk up the aisle ofthe airplane.

Both are wearingdark glasses, one is using a guide dog, and the other is
tapping his way alongthe aisle with a cane.

Nervous laughter spreads through the cabin but the menenter the cockpit, the
door closes and the engines start up.

The passengersbegin glancing nervously around, searching for some sign that
this is just alittle practical joke. None is forthcoming.

The plane movesfaster and faster down the runway and the people sitting in the
window seatsrealize they're headed straight for the water at theedge of the
airport territory.

As it begins tolook as though the plane will plough into the water, panicked
screams fill thecabin.

At that moment, the plane lifts smoothly into the air.The passengers relax and
laugh a little sheepishly, and soon all retreat intotheir magazines, secure in
the knowledge that the plane is in good hands.

In the cockpit, one of the blind pilots turns to theother and says,"You know,
Bob, one of these days, they're scream too lateand we're all die."

Q4         How should insulin be stored to maintainits potency?

A4          Godrej Appliances, Thoughtfultechnology for a joyful home Mon

It is recommended to store Insulin between 2°C to 8°C ina cool and dry place to
maintain its potency. Exposure tohigher or lower temperatures or direct
sunlightcan cause insulin to lose its effectiveness, resulting in higher dosage
overtime.

Godrej InsuliCool+ is a good solution for insulin storageas it uses
thermoelectric cooling technology to maintain the temperatureprecisely between
2°C to 8°C, without any compressor or refrigerant. It also has a
digitaltemperature display on the front side that accurately shows the
temperaturemaintained. It also comes with a power adapter and an external
powerbank to provide a backup of 4 hours on full charge, and a car adapter
kituseful for charging on the go while travelling by a vehicle.

The product is convenient to carry along whiletravelling, as it is compact,
lightweight andcomes with a shoulder belt. Its dedicated internal space comes
with a vialholder which secures the vials in place while on the move and is
easilyremovable to create space for cartridge storage. The secured door latch
ensuresproper gasket sealing so that no cooling is lost during transportation.

My note- For information. Earlier I was keepinginsulin in refrigerator. The
present days I keep in bed room where AC functionsin the night. According to my
diabetic specialist doctor Mr CV Pillai, either insulin pen apidra/lantus can
bekept even in room temperature or in fridge, as convenient.

Q5         What is a feedback resistor?

A5          InfoSage, Professional MavenTue

Feedback Resistor:

A feedback resistor, often denoted as Rf, is a crucialcomponent in electronic
circuits, particularly in amplifiers and feedbacksystems. It plays a
fundamental role in providing stability, control, and properoperation of these
circuits. The feedback resistor is an integral partof a feedback network that
influences the gain and performance characteristicsof the circuit.

Importance and Applications:

Amplifiers:In amplifier circuits, a feedback resistor isused to determine the
level of feedback applied to the input signal. This feedback helps regulate the
gain and linearity of the amplifier. Byadjusting the value of the feedback
resistor, the overall gain of the amplifiercan be controlled, allowing for
customized amplification levels.

Operational Amplifiers (Op-Amps):Feedbackresistors are commonly used in
operational amplifier (op-amp) circuits to setthe gain and control the behavior
of the amplifier. In inverting andnon-inverting op-amp configurations, feedback
resistors play a critical role indetermining the output voltage in relation to
the input voltage.

Control Systems:In control systems, feedbackresistors are utilized to establish
closed-loop feedback mechanisms. Thesemechanisms allow the system to respond to
changes in input or operatingconditions, resulting in improved stability,
accuracy, and performance.

Signal Processing:Feedback resistors are employedin various signal processing
applications, such as filters and oscillators. They help tailor the frequency
response and characteristics of these circuitsto achieve desired signal
manipulation.

Regulation and Biasing:Feedback resistors can beused in voltage divider
configurations for setting reference voltages, biasinglevels, and providing
stability in electronic circuits.

Characteristics:

The value ofthe feedback resistor affects the level of feedback in the circuit.
Highervalues of Rf generally lead to higher levels of feedback and reduced
gain, while lower values result in lower feedback and higher gain.

The choice offeedback resistor also impacts the bandwidth, stability, and
noisecharacteristics of the circuit.

My note- vague remembrance of rf studied undermodern physics comes to me about
rf.
