Q1         What aresome cool facts about the Universe?

A1          Justin Jones, Studied at Otis College of Art and Design(Graduated
2012)Updated 4y

Our solar system’s biggest mountain is on Mars.

Space has no atmosphere.

Sound cannot travel in space as there is no medium

The nearest star to earth is 4.2light-years away.

A spoonful of a neutron starweighs about a billion-ton.

You can't cry on space, becauseyour tears won't ever fall.

In 1977 we received a signal from deep space that lasted 72 seconds. Westill
don't know how or where it came from.

Saturn's rings are not solid. They are made up of bits ofIce. Dust and Rock.

Venus takes 243 Earth days to rotate once on its axis. The planet's orbit around
the Sun takes 225 Earth days.)

The Milky Way is a huge city of stars, so big that even atthe speed of light,
it would take 100,000 years to travel across it.

Black holes are so dense that even the light cannotescape.

Q2         What is thebest thing you saw today?

A2         Siddhant Asati, Updated 2y

He is Dr. Uday Modi from Mumbai.

11 years ago, an old man came tohim for treatment. He realized after looking at
him that he was poor. The old man then started cryingand told him that he had 3
sons but they don’t spend any money on them nor dothey provide food for them.

His wife had a paralysis, she couldn’t get up and walk so he had to lookafter
her even though his own age was 84.

So this man thought that heshould do something for them and he told the old man
that he will get a tiffin from his home from the nextday. He also told the old
man if any senior citizen is in the problem or facingdifficulties, inform him.
At that time he was thinking there would be hardly 3–5 people and hecould send
them food from his home only.

But the twist is when he started getting names itcrossed 100 in a very few
months.

So he felt he should do somethingbigger and started “ShravanTiffin Service.”.

The old people situation was suchthat they could not cook for themselves nor do
they have money to buy somethingand eat so their only hope is the Tiffin. The
place they live in is not clean so there is alwaysa chance of infection.

So he also wants to start Son’s Home as he does not wantto use the word ‘old
age home’ for them. However,it requires a good amount of money also.

In this Son’s Home, all medical treatment needed for themwill be provided. & so
that the last some years of their life, they couldspend happily.

A huge respect to this man, Dr. Uday Modi.

This is the best thing I sawtoday.

Q3         How didthey survive the heat in ancient times without air
conditioning and fans? 🔥🌞😓

A3         Demian R,5h

Mayans found a clever way. They were notonly great astronomers and
mathematicians but excellent architects.

At the top of many temples they had two small “windows”, each at theopposite
side of the ceiling, which provided a natural air flow thatcooled down by many
degrees the inside of the chamber:

I was decades ago visiting Palenque in Southern Mexico andfound a Swiss
archaeologist who saw me and my sister sweating like pigs justoutside the
temple entrance at the top of a pyramid. He said to us: “Why are you in the
heat? Just comeinside!” And voilà! Itwas so cool there!

He explained that many of thetemples got destroyed by the jungle but the one we
were at wasn’t so they foundout that cooling system by chance. Not all Mayan
pyramids or constructions have the sametype of “windows” but you can see in
many of them that there are lateral holesthat likely provide the needed cooling
that living in a hot and humid junglebrings.

He mentioned that it was likely that some reconstructed pyramids hadoriginally
these windows but the people who reconstructedthem might not be aware of that
system and therefore the roof/walls ended upwith no windows. But I was ableto
try it. It was so nice!

Q4         Whatbrought tears to your eyes?

A4         Prasanjeet Ghosh, YouTuber (2018–present)Updated 4y

A few days ago I attended a function where I met alady. My aunt told me about
her and my eyes were full of tears.

She was 17 years old when she gotmarried to a man who was roughly 14 years
older than her. After 1 month of her marriage, she came to know that her husband
was an alcoholic and every night he abusedher and forced her to bring money
from her mother. When she denied, heused an iron rod to beat her.

Many times she told her mother aboutthese problems but her mother said:

“This is a problem of every house and you’ve to fix it or face it”

Her mother in Law was worse than her husband and gaveonly 2-time meal and
forced her to do all kinds of stuff like Cleaning, washing, etc..

A few months later when she got pregnant, her familymembers said if you give
birth to a girl then you’ll have to leave this house. Unfortunately, she gave
birth to agirl child.

That day was the worst day of herlife, and they beat herbadly and forced her to
leave the house.

She had thought of suicide butthat child’s face stopped her and she knows she
has to work hard to make herchild successful.

She sold her Gold earrings and from next day she got a job in a papercarry bag
factory, where she got Rs150/2000 carry bags. She had to work atleast 8 to 9
hours daily.

Along with this work she worked as a table andutensils cleaner in a Dhaba. And
she worked there for 5 to 6 hours dailyand able to earn 100Rs/day.

Now she can manage 250 to 300Rs dailywhich was sufficient to feed her baby.

A few months later she faced someback related problems and this made her weak.
After this problem, she had toleft that cleaner’s job and started work as a
laborer in toysfactory.

This is how she managed herdaughter’s education and did many works to makes her
children’s life easy, sheknows that “God only help them who works hard”

I met her daughter yesterday and guesswhat, she scored 93% in Higher secondary
and she wants to be a Doctor.

She had nothing except herdaughter and she left her husband and she had no Idea
what she will do next butshe believed in herself.

My note- I have seen similar type of ladies workingin Bangalore flats, where
most get food and higher wages than in their native.

Q5         If I wrapsomething with aluminum foil, does it make it fire
resistant?

A5         Silk Road, AI Expert14h

Aluminum foil is not a magic shieldagainst fire, and it can actually make
things worse in some cases.

Aluminum foil is not flammable, but it can melt at very high temperatures
(around 1220°F or 660°C).

However, most fires are not hotenough to melt aluminum foil, so that's not the
main problem.

The main problem is that aluminum foil is very thin and weak, and itcan't stop
the heat from reaching the wrapped material.

Heat can travel in three ways: by radiation, convection, andconduction.

Aluminum foil can reflect some of the radiant heat, but it can't block the
convected and conducted heat, which are the main sourcesof damage in wildfires.
Radiant heat is the heat you feel when you stand near afire.

It travels in waves and can be reflected by shinysurfaces. Aluminum foil can
help deflect some of the radiant heat, but not allof it.

Some of the heat will still get through the gaps andholes in the foil, or
bounce off other surfaces and reach the wrapped material.

Convected heat is the heat thattravels with the air currents. It can carry hot
gases and embers that can igniteflammable materials.

Aluminum foil can't stop the convected heat, becauseit is too thin and flimsy
to create a tight seal around the wrapped material.

The hot air and embers can easily get under or throughthe foil and start a fire.

Conducted heat is the heat that transfers when twoobjects touch each other.

It is the most direct and dangerous way ofspreading fire.

Aluminum foil can't stop the conducted heat, becauseit is a good conductor of
heat itself.

If the foil touches the flames or a hotsurface, it will quickly transfer the
heat to the wrapped material and cause itto burn.

Now some fire departments and homeownershave used special fire-resistant
wrapping foil that is thicker, stronger, andmore reflective than regular
aluminum foil.

This type of foil is designed toprotect against all three types of heat, and it
can withstand highertemperatures without melting or breaking.

However, this type of foil is not easy to find or use, and it is veryexpensive.
It also requires proper installation and fastening to createan effective
barrier against fire.

Verdict:

No, wrapping something in aluminumfoil does not make it flame resistant. In
fact, it might make it morevulnerable to fire damage.

Unless you have access to professional-grade fire-resistantwrapping foil and
know how to use it correctly, you are better off using othermethods of fire
prevention and protection.
