By 10 AM I completed the pratha sandhya and 1008 Gayathri. I had an urgent
work and while getting out of the house the familiar auto man came and stopped
the auto. he was wearing holy ashes.
When I got in he told he just completed his Gayathri recitation, yesterday
changed upaveetham in his home yesterday, before the photos of Gods in the
pooja room with some mantras told to them. With wonder I asked him- Don't
mistake, which community he belong to.
He replied he belong to vannia chettiar community. He regularly wear
upaveetham and had uapanayanam at 14, then on wards he continiously wear
upaveetham and yearly upakarmam.
It made me a little bit astonished and think- How many other communities prompt
about upakarma.

I feel blessed (and humbled) in having such devoted, educated and conscientious

yajur-vedins.
Let us therefore, all together as a braahmana parishad, perform our prescribed
duties.
Let us perform our thri-kaala sandhyas and our dvi-kaala aupaasanams.

tharppanams.

do namaskaaram to them and to our elders, do pradakshana-namskaaram to the
deities in the nearest temple, before returning home to our families and loved
ones.
Let us not neglect our duty tomorrow to do without fail1008 mahaa gaayathri
japam with the requisite preliminaries and conclusions.
All the best for living up to your well-earned reputation as dvi-janma
shreshttam.
