VALSAN-ELAYADA.

Many snack items, dishes etc. nowadays appear in Chennaifeasts, which were
monopoly of Kerala at one time.

One of the dishes is aviyal.

One of the sweet items is valsan, another one isprathaman with palada.

In the onam feast at Geetham restaurant in Chennai, wewere served valsan. There
was no restriction, so we all took two each (wife, daughter in law and one
grandson).

The restaurant was very crowded, many reserved formeals came in advance and
waiting. We had been in time, so no waiting.

Valsan was an evening snack item on most of the daysin my native SK Lodge at
Pandalam Junction.

Getting plenty of chakkavaratti (jack fruit preserved)in Chennai also now, a
recent time in feasts valsan is introduced. Main item toprepare is
chakkavaratti.

Even if pazhampori is there along with valsan, more preferenceis for valsan.

Still, valsan has not appeared in restaurants as aregular snack item served. I
think soon it may appear.

Like Banana and Banana chips became very common inChennai, Like Kerala papad
became very common in Chennai, it may appear oneday.
