Respected sir, I too read the posting by Sri Rajaram with his highlighting of Deivathin Kural . Sage has told some general truths and stated Vedasabdam is only important in addition to what you stated.He has given some directions to sasthrikals. Sir, present day 90% of sasthrikal are well versed. During marriages they explain the meaning and purpose of Veda mantras. During inauspicious mantras, especially at Gaya, Varanasi ghats etc, they ensure why the kartha during the actions and reciting mantras explaining them.
As far as my experience in Trivandrum is many sasthrikals are well employed and they take the profession by hereditary after retirement or along with profession. There is not even an iota of truth in Mr Rajaram's statement. It is proved by himself that he is half baked.
