Q1             Do you think there was a Hindutemple at the site of the Qutb
Minar?

A1             ShaunakBhattacharjeee, Software Engineer | Traveller | Foodie Mon

I visited the QutbMinar during my Delhi trip last year and I was a little
surprised to see a few things inside theQutb Minar Complex. Of course, Qutb
Minar in itself is an engineering Marvel. To build a 72-metre tall tower with
such intricate architecture, that too, 800years ago was a remarkable feat.
While I was impressed seeing thetower structure, the ruins surrounding the
Minar made me wonder about a fewthings.

Does the above architecture look familiar to you? Often wesee similar
structures in Hindu temples that were built centuries ago. Thisthing is located
within the same complex as the Qutb Minar, hardly 10 metres away from
theminaret. Look at the designs on the pillar. They don't look like
Islamicarchitecture. Instead, you see the same kind of thing on the pillars
ofold Hindu temples.

The surrounding areacan be seen in ruins. It appears as if something was there
but has been brokendown. However, itcouldn't be damaged fully as the structure
that remains behind still gives aglimpse of the long-lost history to the
visitors. The place looks very similar to the Udaygiri Caves inOdisha.

Then of course, the presence of the Iron Pillar in the sameplace as the Qutb
Minar raises a few questions in my mind. Why would the emperor of the Delhi
Sultanate construct the Qutb Minarin the same place where the Iron Pillar
constructed by a Hindu ruler withinscriptions related to Hinduism already
existed?

Could it be there was something else already there? The IronPillar is 1,600
years old and there could be some structure that was therepreviously inside
which this Iron Pillar was present. But in the 13th centuryAD, the walls of the
previous structure were damaged and pulled down, theevidence of which can be
seen in the ruins but since the Iron Pillar weighs over 6,000 kilograms andmore
than a metre of it is buried below the ground, it was not possible to movein.
Hence they might have left it as it was and constructed the QutbMinar nearby.
That's justmy speculation. If you visit the Qutb Minar and see the
ancientruins, you might think of the same questions as I did.

Q3             What is the funniest atheist jokeof all time?

A3             MarekČtrnáct,Translator From EnglishDec 21

Well, I know a few, though we tend to end up as a butt ofthem…

A man goes to horseraces, wanting to place a bet. As he is walking along the
stalls, he sees aCatholic priest standing by a horse, blessing it.

“You know,” he thinks,“this could mean something. I’llplace my bet on that
horse.” He does, and the horse wins. The man packs themoney.

For several more weeks, the man goes to the horse races andwatches for the
priest. The priest always blesses a horse, the man always betson it, and the
horse wins. Until one day, he places a big bet,and the horse not only doesn’t
win — it falls on the track and is dead on thespot.

The man is pretty angry about it. He finds the priest in thecrowd and says:
“Hey, whathappened? You always bless a horse, and it always wins, why did this
one die?”

The priest asks: “Areyou Catholic, my son?”

“No, I don’t believe in God.”

“Well, in that case…see here, there is a tad of difference between a blessing
and thelast rites.”

And another one:

An atheist is rowing a boat on the Loch Ness, when suddenlythe Loch Ness
monster appears from the water. It breaks his boat and as he istreading water,
it turns towards him, opening its mouth to devour him.

The atheist cries:“God! Please! Help me!”

Suddenly, the clouds part, the light from heavens shine onhim, and the voice of
Godsays: “Oh? I thought you don’t believe in me?”

“Oh, come on,”grumbles the atheist, “a minute ago, I didn’t believe in the
LochNess monster, either!”

(Which goes to showthat we can change our minds — but we need evidence to do
so.)

EDIT: Remembered anotherone:

A very devout, modestman was living next to an atheist. This man was always on
his knees, praying, while hisneighbor never even looked at the nearby church.
Despite that, the atheist didn’t have a bad life: hehad a good job, a pretty
young wife and two healthy children, while the devoutman was toiling in a hard
job, his wife was getting fat, and his children werealways in some trouble at
school.

One day, as he was kneeling in prayer, he raised his eyes tothe skies, and
said: “God! I keep worshipping you every day, I ask your advicewith all my
problems, I confess all my sins to you. And yet, my neighbor, who doesn’t
believe in you andcertainly doesn’t pray, looks like he is blessed with luck,
while I am poor and I suffermore and more every day. Why?”

And lo, there is a deep, booming voice from the Heavens: “Well, he’s not
bothering me all the time!”

Before handing the food over, she decides to ask theworkers a few religious
questions first, so she approaches one and says:“Excuse me, does the name
Pontius Pilate mean anything to you?”

“Nah,” he says, thenshouts to his mate “Oi Fred, do you know Pontius Pilate?”

“No, why?”

“His old lady’s here, wants to bring him something to eat.”

Q5             Why does the idol of Ramji ofAyodhya look South Indian? Why was
such idol designed because mostly the idolsof Rama are somewhat different
across North India?

A5             AnilRoongta, Former Member at Consumer Court Wed

The 51-inch idol wassculpted using Krishna Shila stone, which is common in the
districts of HD Koteand Mysore. Thisstone, which has a black look and is named
"krishnashila" because itis the same colour as that of Lord Krishna. Since
calcite makes up the majority of the stone, sculptorscan easily sculpt
complicated patterns with it.

Renowned sculptor Arun Yogiraj, was instrumental in makingthe statue of Ram
Lalla for the Ayodhya Ram Temple consecration event. The 200-kg idol depicts
Lord Ramas a five-year-old youngster standing and grinning gently.
Thisawe-inspiring work of art was created using Krishna Shila stone , which
hassome significant qualities.

The stone is 2.5 billion years old," said HSVenkatesh, Director of the National
Institute of Rock Mechanics (NIRM),Bengaluru. “The rock is highly durable and
resistant to climaticvariation and will sustain thousands of years in this
subtropical zone withminimum maintenance," added Venkatesh.

Ram Lalla's idol is made more visually appealing by the useof Krishna Shila
stone, which also draws attention to the rich artistic legacyof Karnataka. For
those who are unaware, Mysore has also been the epicenter ofKrishna Shila stone
carving because of the abundance of stone deposits that arefound in the
vicinity of the city

The use of such anancient and resilient material ensures that the idol can
withstand the test oftime in thesubtropical climate of Ayodhya. Granitic rocks,
like the black granite used forthe Ram Lalla idol, typically form when molten
lava cools down after theEarth's formation.

It’s also said thatthe dark form of Lord Ram has been described in Maharishi
Valmiki's Ramayana, hence we worship Ramji in the darkform only. This is the
reason why the idol of Ramlala installed in Ayodhya Ramtemple is made of black
stone.

And there should not be a debate about it being SouthIndian or North Indian.
Ram lalla belongs toeveryone and there is no north south divide.

Jai Shri Ram.
