Thank you Mr Sekar for response with very good additions.
No body in the present or generation decades or centuries before have seen
the original Mahabharatham written by Lord Ganesha, dictated by Vedavysa. What
we have is something carried in memory and hand written at a time and later
printed. So the so called vyasabharatham is something carried over by memory.
Regarding mango incident Droupadi did not tell the truth, finally when Krishna
asked, she told it in private. The moment she said, mango got fixed to the
branch. She did not reveal her thought openly. What I read through internet
for the first time.
My only point of posting it was for expanding the saying posted by revered Mr
Narayanaswamy- Seethai azhakal kettal, Panchali vayal kettal, commonly used in
talks by brahmin households.
For that the laughing when Duryodhana drenched in water by Panchali is
sufficient. I could not get more instances for Panchali azhakal kettal other
than the Subhadra incident.

Thanks Sri G K.
Some of the incidents you have mentioned are not there (Draupadi loving Karna
for example) in the Vyasa Bharatham - I have read both
Rajaji's Vyasar Virundhu andCho Sirs Mahabharatham
which are based ONLY on Vaysa's original version. (there are several adapted
versions of Mahbharatha - and also of Ramayana - like the Kamba Ramayana
which differs on several places from Valmiki's original).
They have mentioned that Draupadi laughed at Duryodana (when she, together with
Bhima standing in the balcony inside the palace) falling saying "The son of a
blind man is also blind".an this insult Duryodana never forgot nor forgive.
If my memory serves me right, Cho sir writes that the Pandavaas plucked the
mango from the tree and on hearing t belonged to a Rishi and bears fruits only
rarely, wanted it to stick to the tree. That's when Krishna asks them to tell
the truth and all including Draupadi say their inner feelings and the mango
goes and sticks to the branch.
I don't remember having read that she had a soft corner for Karna.

Panchali vaayal kettal
Dear friends,
Yesterday I had posted about Seethai azhakal kettal. This is about Droupati.
Panchali (Droupati) had her troubles, because of her talk, smile or laugh. Also
the saying Panchali azhakal kettal is also correct.Droupati was a dark
complexioned beautiful lady.Continue reading. My Google searches are provided
with date.

1. Introduction
Draupadi was of 30 years when she married to allPandavas. Draupadi was 25 years
when she was born from holy fire. Her swayamvaratook place after 5 years.
Draupadi isconsidered one of the greatest beauties in Indian mythology. Her
skin was so dark, it wasalmost blue. Same with Krishna, Vishnu, and Shiva.28

2 What was special about Draupadi?
She was extremely beautiful, intelligent and virtuouswomen, with her body
smelling like fresh bloom lotus. There were only a fewwomen in Hindu Mythology
who were aggressive and who spoke their mind in theworld of men. Draupadi was
one of them. She is considered by many as the first feminist of HinduMythology.
3. Bharatha Paryatanam by Kuttikrishna Marar
My first introduction to the Panchali swayamvaram anddetails was from my
Malayalam text book titled above in the first year of BSc.degree course. A
vivid description Icould read from it.
While the swayamvaram was arranged, Duryodhana along withKarna, and Pandavas
attended along with many others. Pandavas were inAnjathavasam at that time.
They were in disguise as Brahmins. Karna wasdiscarded by Droupadi calling him
as charioteer’s son. Though Angarajyam was givento him by Suyodhana and made
him a king, still Droupadi did not accepted him. Abad impact made by her on
Karna made him to call later whor duringvasthrakshepam (disrobing).
Some how Lord Krishna could convince Drupada and Droupadi, that pandavas were
indisguise as Brahmins, and Arjuna won her in swayamvar.
Just because Kunti without seeing the gift (Droupadi),told, all can share the
gift, Droupadi became wife of all Pandavas.
She was pride of keeping all Pandavas in harmony though she liked Arjunamore
than others who won her in swayamvaram. Later when Arjun married Subhadra,
sister of LordKrishna, she was very particular she should stay in a separate
palace.
4 Who was Draupadi attracted to?
As per the folk play fromMaharashtra calledJambul- Aakhyaan Draupadi admitted
that she loved Karna more than herhusbands andregretted not marrying him
because of the caste. She stated that had shemarried Karna, she would have been
happy and not disrobed by Dusshasan.12 Dec2022
5 The mango story
There is an interesting mango story told in theAaranyakanda. It is told it was
to suppress the pride of Droupadi created byLord Krishna. Many versions are
there. In one of them, she says she loved Arjunamore among Pandavas and in
another Shethought if Karna toohad been her husband to Lord Krishna. ( I am not
repeating the story here)
“Then cameDraupadi’s turn. She must tell the truth, Krishna appealed to her –
she, whowas born of the sacred homa fire and was the eternal goddess herself.
She was agreat deal more important than the Pandavas. Draupadi said that she
was likeany woman who feels attraction for a handsome male, be he her brother
or herson. She said that although the five Pandavas were her husbands, she
hadgreater affection for Arjuna. Then she went on to say what every one knew
bythen, things like how she was humiliated in the Kaurava court and how she
hadleft her hair loose since then, promising to tie it up with the blood
ofDussasana, etc., and how she would be the cause of the destruction of
theKaurava brothers. The mangoes ripened by her truth.” [2]The blog is owned by
B.N pattanaik.
Droupati was rebirth of Nalayini, it is told
6 Hasthinapurampalace incident
Duryodhana came to see the new palace of Pandavas. Hehad difficulty in seeing
floor and pools in the palace and falling often onaccount of it. Droupathi
wasshowing him the palace
As the story goes, Duryodhana fell in a pond, mistaking it for floor and got
drenched. According to BR Chopra's version, beholding all thisDraupadi laughed
sarcastically and insulted him by saying, “Andhe ka PutraAndha'', i.e., “The
Son ofBlind is Also Blind”.20 Apr 2020
6.1 Did Draupadireally laugh at Duryodhana?
I (writer) did my own research and find out that Draupadi did not laugh at
Duryodhana, nor did she say anythinginsulting to him. She was just passing by
with her friends and happened to laughat something else.3 Jan 2024
6.2 Why didDuryodhana hate Draupadi? He was jealous of Pandavas. There was a
misconception that she made fun of Duryodhana so he revenged.26 Dec 2017
But they say it is her arrogant jeering of Duryodhana-I mean laughing at his
discomfiture -in the Palace of Illusions that Maya hadbuilt for Pandavas. The
plot of MB is a complex web if interaction ofcause-effect relations of many
more sets of people (by Mahadeva Sarma in an answer)
In my college days we used to say- Unless Panchalilaughed at Duryodhana, the
great war would not have occurred.
7. Droupathitelling in the end of war
“O descendantof the Bharata lineage! Look at your brothers and delight them.
They are likeproud bulls and proud kings of elephants. All of you are like the
immortals. All of you are scorchers of enemies and are capable of withstanding
enemies. It is my view that even a singleone of you would have been enough to
bring me happiness, not to speak ofwhen all of you tigers and men and bulls
among men are my husbands, like thesenses enervating the body.”

So in conclusion because of her laugh/words athasthinapuram palace, reasoned
Mahabharatha war.
