Q1      What is themost touching act of kindness you have ever witnessed or
experienced?

A1      ParikDhamija, Works at Parik Sales Corporation Updated 6y

Yesterday I was in the State Bank of India and waslearning about different
investment schemes.

The time was 4:15 pm and the security guard justclosed the main door so as not
to allow any more person inside the bank.

After a few minutes, I saw a senior citizen arguingwith the guard to open the
door. After much hassle, he was finally let in.

He stood in front of the cashier and placed a ₹100note on his desk.

Cashier: Furious. Deposits till 4:00 pm. Just getout.

Senior citizen: Sir I am not here for deposits.Actually…

Cashier: To the guard. Just throw this person out.

Senior citizen: Sir actually I came here to returnthis note to you. This
doesn't belong to me.

Cashier: Baffled. What?

Senior citizen: Yes Sir. I filled the withdrawal formfor ₹1700 and by mistake
you gave me ₹1800. I was in a hurry so didn't count. When I went to another bank
to deposit the same in my wife's account, they gaveme ₹100 back.

Cashier: I'm speechless. What do you do Sir?

Senior citizen: I am a mazdoor ( a daily wageworker). I work in the front
building.

While he was leaving.

Guard: Insaniyat hai abi humare desh me.

(Translation:Humanity is still alive in our country)

Senior citizen: Bhaiya desh ka nahi pta. Hume raat meneend achha ayega bs.

(Translation:I don't know about the country, brother. Atleast now I'll be able
to sleeptonight.)

He straight away went to the front building andstarted his work. I was still
watching him in awe.

My note- In south India, all staff of State bank of Indiaare very courteous.May
be either language or difference in North India.

Q2      What are someexamples of things that sound right but are actually wrong?

A2      Hazel, HistoryEnthusiast4y

English astronomer Sir Patrick Moore pulled one ofthe biggest April
Fools’hoaxes of all time which fooled the country into thinking they couldfloat.

On April 1 1976, he made an announcement on BBC Radio2 stating that, at exactly
9:47 a.m., Pluto would pass directly behind Jupiter in relation tothe Earth.
This would create a noticeable reduction in gravity on Earthitself.[1]

He said that, if people jumped at this exact time, they would beovercome by a
‘strange floating sensation’.

This was known as the ‘Jovian-Plutonian effect’.

I’m no physicist, but in hindsight this is obviouslyrubbish—yet the public
bought the whole thing—and I’m talking hook, line andsinker.

For a lot ofpeople, this sounded completely right and reasonable, despite just
how ridiculousit was. And fair enough—it came from a pretty reliable source.

The BBC reported getting a hell of a lot of callsfrom people all over the
country telling them they were having bizarregravitational experiences.

One woman claimed that she and her friends were sittingand had ‘wafted from
their chairs and gently orbited around the room.’[2]

Another woman said that she and her eleven friendswere sitting at a table—and
soon enough, everyone (and the table) began toascend.[3]

(Kind of Harry Potter-esque in that scene with the inflationof Marjorie
Dursley.)

The reason thatMoore performed this hoax was really just to raise awareness of
the fact thatthe whole idea of ‘planetary alignment’ and its effects on Earth
arenonsensical.

‘Let ushear no more of this nonsense about the 'planetary alignment.' It
happens every170 years or so; nothing spectacular will be seen in the sky; and
in theopinion of almost everyone, it can [a]ffect nobody and nothing.’

It’s strange how so many people thought it soundedright—but when it actual
fact, it was completely wrong.

I guess a lot of it has to do with the mind—although the phenomenon wasn’treal,
in a way people believed in it and so it felt real.

But a clever hoax on the part of Sir Patrick Moorenevertheless.

a piece of paper holding a Rs 3 ball pen.

This person is Dr Shankar Gowda, Gold Medalist MBBS,fromMandua in Karnataka,*

He does not have his own clinic.

It takes lakhs of rupees to build a cabin. From wherewill you get so much

He lives in a two-room house away from the city. Howcan patients come so far
for treatment, so he examines hundreds of poor patients daily sittingoutside a
fast food restaurant in the city from 7 am to 7 pm on his bicycle.Diagnoses
them thoroughly and prescribes cheap, generic medicines.

It costs only 5rupees. Yes, justRs.5. Doctors with Goldmedalist MD degree
charge only Rs 5 from poor patients.

In today's world where doctors are literally lootingthe poor, common people.
ButDr. Shankar Gowdar is a god to many. Salute to such a social worker.

Q4      What is thebiggest culture shock you have ever faced?

A4      MartenzVandreva, Studied at Trisakti Institute of Tourism Updated 3y

1 Soft Drinks

When the first time I was stepping my feet inGermany, I was shocked when I saw
how people drink soft drinks almost all thetime..In the morning before work, my
colleagues will drink a can of Coca-Cola,and every time we have a short break ,
again always Coca-Cola or other kind ofsoft drink.

And not forget to mention, Red Bull..this kind ofenergy drink it's seem
becoming everybody's favorite drinks to pump theirspirit..

One package of can soft drink contains 24 pieces..andits common when I saw some
of my colleagues have it in their room.

2. SparklingWater

When the first time I bought a bottle of mineralwater in Lidl, I was confused
why the water tasted just like a soda water..andwhen I read the label, I just
realized if that is a Sparkling water..

And another fact, when I made an inventory in myHotel, the consumption number
of a Sparkling water way much bigger than aregular water by our guests, don't
ask me why, because I don't know theanswer..

I never saw a bottle of Sparkling water being sold inmy country in regular
supermarket, and if they do, I can guarantee no one willever buy it.

As an Asian Man, at home, I drink a regular waterwithout gas..and of course
some ice tea.

Yes, there are a lot of soft drinks, being sold inthe Supermarket nearby, but
our family did not get used to consuming it.

Q5      What is thebiggest mind blow ever?

A5      SanidhyaSingh,We are mortal, not our deeds! Updated 6y

If you have ever turned the pages of physics book, you might be knowing him:

His name is SirIsaac Newton.[1]

His works in the field of gravity, motion, opticsetc. are highly recognized and
appreciated throughout the world, even in 21stcentury.

He was also the Mastermind behind the scientificrevolution of 17th century.[2]

But do you knowhow he died?

In our physics textbooks, his life is limited to hisdiscoveries and inventions
only, no one cares about how he died.

So, let's investigate a bit into his later part oflife:

Newton spent hislast days in a small house of London with his acquaintance John
locke.[3]

He started doing alchemy there.

According to the recent research of his hair samples, from his coffins, it was
found that it contains high level of Mercury.

Mercury is considered as an important metal in theformula of gold making.[4]

It is even saidthat he had gone mad before he died, which is one of the
side-effects ofworking with Mercury.

Hence, the mysteryis solved- Newton died because of his obsession with turning
base metals intogold.

This is how one of the greatest scientists of alltime died.

Pretty weird,isn't it?

In contrast, he is still alive because of his worksin physics and mathematics.
