It means, according to vedams, shasthrams, prayogams and guru-upadeshams:-

prostitute mother, through past generations of fathers also born of prostitute

By the way, it is the father, and only the father, who imparts to his son the
veda-manthram (the praanaayaamam) during the upanayanam, though the priest is
present and prompts the father. It is he alone who also protects the son
throughout life and provides maintenance and companionship for him. He is the
pitaa in all respects.
