The Complete Works of Vivekananda, Vol.1, p.184, says: "Mohammad
claimed that the Angel Gabriel came to him in a cave one day and took him
on the heavenly horse, Harak, and he visited the heavens."

But according to Martin Lings: "Muhammad: His Life Based on the
Earliest Sources" (1997:101-102), the name of the heavenly horse is Burāq.

      Which one is correct?

      Regards NP

I lived for almost a year in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia about three decades ago.
During that period, I remember reading about Burāq in an article in the
English daily Arab Times. Burāq is mentioned as the horse on which some
people believe that Prophet Mohammed rode to heaven. But according to the
author of the article, no such incident happened. According to him, neither
did Mohammed ride on a supernatural horse nor did he come face to face with
Allah. It is just folklore, and a myth according to him. I think that is
the Wahhabi point of view.
