Thanks Sri G K. Two comments on Q 1 reply: 1. That Life is unfair to the Good is a widely held belief, opinion, as we see before our eyes how the corrupt thrive and prosper while the honest suffer, both financially and mentally. Somehow nothing seems to happen to them, at least as far as we the public are concerned, even if they suffer in their private lives. The easiest explanation is " Karma" of not only this birth but of the previous ones also. But one cannot deny the fact that generally the bad ones work hard ( for example Karunanidhi used to work for nearly 18 hours a day, starting with reading various newspapers, meetings with party functionaries etc. That's how he got a complete grip over the party and made it a family property - thru superhuman efforts). The lazy ones cannot grudge his success thru efforts, right or wrong or fair on unfair. But the supposedly good ones don't put on that kind of effort, (Modi may be an exception) and let us remember that efforts and hard work do yield results. If you follow T N politics, the BJP had grown after Annamalai has assumed the leadership. Why, because he puts in hours and hours of hard work on the field and did not confine himself to the A / C room, discussing strategy only, important though strategy is. But decades of inaction cannot be corrected in a short span of time. No other leader had put so much effort as he has done - on the field. You can't sit tight and lament Good are suffering. Most of us don't even bother to vote but cry over the results. That just won't work. Again, the Good don't pull their weight but rely on others to do the donkey work while they sit on the sidelines. Worse, they outsource their duties and responsibilities to Him and think just chanting His Namas are enough. There again you can see their Double standards. If they have to pass the examination, for example, they study hard and ask for His Blessings, which is the right thing to do. Krishna said " Do your DUTY, but leave the results to Me". Emphasis here is DO YOUR DUTY and not sit tight and chant my Naamas once in a while and that would be enough. You have to both. We never raised our collective voice against the various atrocities heaped on our religion and our brethren. B' Desh is the latest example, one more in a long, never ending list. Some of us escape by saying " Oh, I don't comment on politics or religion", to cover our cowardice and selfishness. Given that scenario, the Good will suffer, as long as they remain selfish and are indifferent to the sufferings of other Good people. Vidhura says that if you remain silent when injustice is being perpetrated, you also are guilty of that crime. He raised his voice when Drupadi was sought to be disrobed and did his best, short of taking arms. He thought beong a servant of the king Drirtharashtra, he cannot fight or kill his king's sons. But he tried his best and so did Bhishma. 2. Yes, Seshan was forgotten in spite of his fantastic service, in restoring order and faith in our election process. Have you seen the clamor to discredit the EVMs and the war cry to bring back the ballot papers - which will make booth capturing and stuffing the ballot boxes easy? Because there is no Seshan now. I don't know much about his private life and his record, other than his role as the CEC, and I, as a citizen of Bharat, salute him for his efforts and services. That said, he demeaned himself, in my opinion, by meeting and soliciting votes from the very same people he decried. Base Quora QA- Compiled Q1 Is life unfair to honest people? KR The problem of the ignorant is (ignorant does not mean uneducated. Katradinaal aaya payan en kol, nattrarivaalan tizhadar enin. It means what is the use of education if the learned is not worshipped or lauded [one meaning] our GOD is not worshipped [another meaning] Hence ignorant is one who without analysis praises some or ignores some or ignites some; that is also ignorance. People who dance for MGR, shahrukh khan and Amitab, Rajni about whom nothing is known personally [their dark sides always remained unprojected by their power of money or power is the real truth] are cherished as THIS DANCER wrote about seshan. Let Sujatha or Seshan be upright or not is not a question about anyone, but the charisma they carried out ere by media lights only who wrote not after due verifications, but only after receipt of currency, protection, sanctions etc etc. Once the feedings stop, they go only to the next feeder. And at the same time, even after years of generations few people are remembered or silently followed, WHO REMAINED AN OPEN BOOK. And it is not that glowing media who are doing it; it is the genuine who had seen them personally, describing and following only their character, only through their words. So, after reading Indian scriptures and B G if fools were to write life is unfair then they are psychic. Before ending, can the bancer know what Seshan did at Madurai in his earlier career? Doing something as King is never a greater thing; as a half dhoti clad man he could shake a kingdom and he was the greatest whom Nelson Mandela followed. And I have another question too; as Cine star I mentioned above there are also actresses Deepika, Natandara, etc and why do you people not dance around?; differentiating people? Or did the media not write about them well? Q2 Was the human lifespan always 80 years throughout human history? No, it wasn't. KR It ends here and if so why these kinds of questions? [I don't know where you got that idea, but it's about as accurate as saying the Earth is flat.] {KR These words are not mine. And I read the whole thrash and was retirement fixed because of enhanced age? And is there any assurance that at 20 s people are so healthier and so lucky to live also?} Q5 What scam do you know about or you have faced? KR In north India it could be ascam; but in South India we call it cheating and not scam. Scam is when public funds evaporate. And where people ask for 200 rupees petrol nation, are only a nation asking for KOSURU meaning FREEBIES. No petrol bunk can stop at 200 rupees but can stop at literes refixed. Scam done only by the rugger hair lady. Perhaps she is writing high about her imagination in a gossip Quora. A1 Pankaj Sharma, Observer of Dance of Life. Updated 6y Unfortunately Life is unfair to honest people. India's former election commissioner Sh. T.N. Sheshan is the example of this. He was the most honest and impartial Election Commissioner in India. T.N. Sheshan played a vital role to save democracy by reforming elections in India. He fought with corrupt politicians with courage without any help/support. No need to tell a corrupt man can not fight corrupt politicians. Before him elections were not free and fair in India. Election commissioner was just a puppet. Voting was just a joke of democracy. Booth capturing, buying votes, Bribe,Liquor distribution, misusing official government machinery, murders, bogus voting were common things. T.N.Sheshan fought with the brutal, shrewd politicians to reform election system in India. He role in Indian democracy is immense. He handed over the power of democracy to voters who are real owner of the democracy. So he was the saviour of democracy in India. Isn’t ? After his retirement he was powerless. He contested for the post of President of India, Highest Constitutional post in democratic India but he lost. What did he get in the end? Politicians were enemy of him. People forgot him. Media forgot him. He was spending a reclusive life in Gurukulam old age home in Chennai. Recently his wife also passed away. Mr Seshan is also become the late on 10-2019. Isn’t life unfair to honest people? P.S: His junior Mr. M. S. Gill was nominated to Rajya Sabha and later on was inducted as minister in Union cabinet. Update 1: I am glad to see overwhelming response. It shows Sheshan Ji is still our Hero and people still admire his honesty and fortitude. Few people have opposite views and as per them Life was not that unfair to Sheshan ji. I respect their right to differ with me and they should comment their opinions as this is the beauty of healthy discussion. I don’t want to change their opinion and respect their opinion. Why Shehsan Ji's birthday can't be celebrated as India Voter's day ? Or why can't we award T.N. Sheshan award to enthusiastic voters? Why politicians are pampered and honest people are always ignored? Isn't unfair? There are many more such examples and it would be out of context to name them. They cheated/murder/looted people and lived life like king. One example is Vijay Mallya. I agree honest people are happy and satisfied with their work like a tree that doesn't eat its fruit isn't out duty to recognise such people? I agree he came, he got job, he did his job, and he got salary for job and now pension for his contribution but my question is what politicians are doing then? Are they doing something extra? Bottom line is if Politicians/Film Stars/Cheap Celebrities/Sold Journalists/Business men are adored despite their flaws why honest people are ignored and remembered by just very few? Q2 Was the human lifespan always 80 years throughout human history? A2 Silk Road, Physics/History Connoisseur, AI Machine Learning.17h No, it wasn't. I don't know where you got that idea, but it's about as accurate as saying the Earth is flat. The human lifespan has been on a rollercoaster ride throughout history, with more dips and turns than a bad stock market graph. Picture dudes battling saber-toothed tigers and dodging falling rocks. Not exactly a recipe for longevity. Infectious diseases, brutal injuries, and childbirth complications were the grim reapers of the time. Life expectancy hovered around a paltry 30 years, and that's being generous. If you made it to 40, you were considered ancient. Fast forward to the Middle Ages, and things weren't much better. Sanitation was a joke, plagues ravaged Europe, and wars were a constant threat. Life expectancy teetered between 30 and 40 years, with infant and child mortality rates through the roof. Making it to adulthood was an accomplishment in itself. The Industrial Revolution brought some improvements. Advances in medicine, sanitation, and nutrition helped push life expectancy into the 40s and 50s. But it was a slow and uneven climb. The gap between rich and poor was stark, with the wealthy enjoying better health and longer lives than the working class. The 20th century witnessed a dramatic leap forward. Vaccines, antibiotics, and improved public health measures slashed infectious disease rates. Life expectancy soared, reaching the 60s and 70s in many developed countries. Suddenly, retirement became a thing, and people had the luxury of growing old. Today, we're living longer than ever before. The average life expectancy in the US is around 79 years, and it's even higher in some countries. My note- During my 25’s a death at 60 or 65 was natural death. Retirement age in state was 55 and central 58. Development of new medicines, improvement in the quality of life with more income, By 200’s life expectancy came to 75. Now with more income, availability of commodities, improvement in health field the average life expectancy has come to 80. Those who live beyond 80, without major problems and can live independently are more fortunate. Q5 What scam do you know about or you have faced? A5 Anshu Garg, Lives in India (1995–present)Jun 13 On my way to drop my mother at railway station early in the morning, I stopped at a petrol pump and asked the guy to fill for Rs. 200. Seeing my overused clothes and braided hair, he must have assumed that I'm an uneducated naive girl. He had a movable meter attached to petrol dispensing pipe. After showing me “zero” he moved the meter away from me. To add an extra touch, he acted to be religious and touched 200 rupee note to his forehead as a sign of respect to money. He took his own sweet time and said ‘madam I filled for Rs. 202, give me 2 rupees more’ He confidently showed me the meter reading while saying that. Funnily, the meter reading was Rs. 20.23 Twenty rupees and twenty three paise. He thought that the figure is similar and he can fool me 😂 Sadly, for him, I see figures all day everyday. I said it's only Rs. 20 Shamelessly he said ‘no no I'm asking if I should fill for Rs. 212, then it'll be 2 liter. I said just do what I said. He then grumpily filled for remaining amount. With my mother around, I was in no mood to impart wisdom or take action on him and I hate arguments. It's one amongst the many scams that these petrol pump guys do Anyway सावधान रहे, सतर्क रहे My note- Such scams are lesser in south India. -- To go to your groups page on the web, login to your gmail account and then click on https://groups.google.com/ --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "iyer123" group.
