The closest example that I’m aware of would be the siege of the Gauls led by Vercingetorix at Alesia by Julius Caesar in 52 B.C.E. Caesar first constructed an all encompassing wall 10 miles long to trap the Gallic force and prevent them from escaping. He then built a second exterior defensive wall 12.86 miles long facing outward to prevent any reinforcements coming to the aid of the trapped Gauls. The successful siege of Alesia was considered Caesar’s most impressive military achievement and it broke the back of widespread Gallic resistance against the Romans for several decades.
