THE VAMPIRE LESTAT
The Vampire Lestat first came into being when frontman Lestat De Lioncourt,
or the Vampire Lestat, as he is more popularly known, first heard band
members Maudy, James, Alex and T.C. playing in their hometown of New Orleans a
little over a year ago. The unconventional singer claims that hearing their
raw, original sound motivated him to rise from a six-decades-long nap and
re-invent himself as a rock star on the contemporary music scene. In the
following
year, the band released their first record, and soon seduced legions of
loyal - some say rabid - fans amongst the disaffected youth of the punk, metal
and goth/rock underground.
The self-titled album shot straight to No. 1 on the Billboard and SoundScan
charts, with the singles "Forsaken" and "Redeemer" each debuting at #1 on the
Billboard Hot 100. Rolling Stone and Spin clamored to place the band on
their covers, and MTV News proclaimed The Vampire Lestat "Rock's Deadliest
Band."
To date, The Vampire Lestat has sold in excess of 43 million copies and
topped the charts in 22 countries, becoming the best-selling album of the
decade,
and is poised to beat Michael Jackson's Thriller as the best-selling album
of all time - all feats that are unheard of for a band that has never given a
single live performance.
This Halloween, The Vampire Lestat will travel to Death Valley to play what
Lestat has proclaimed will be their first - and only - concert ever.
