Hair Part Four-Lestat- As I walked out of the town house toward the hospital,
my mind was at a whirl with this night’s event. What had started out as a
wonderful night ended with such tragedy. Well I’ve had enough of that in my
eternal life and so had Louis. “Lestat, slow down will you.” “Armand what are
you doing here?” My question had been cold, as I did not want to slow my pace
towards the hospital. “Let me help you at least.” The young cherub finally said
as he followed behind. ..................... The hospital had never been one of
my favourite places. Maybe it had to do with the fact that I was death in this
sickly place, but why fool my self, this reminded me too much of the time when
I was mortal with Gretchen. “Don’t worry. He is right over there. The injuries
that he sustained were nothing.” Why did he have to read my mind? “I’m sorry I
won’t do it again.” If nothing else silenced him, my glare showed that he was
very close to overstepping my patience. As we walked down the hall, I saw the
fat bastard as he sat there staring at nothing. His mind was at a complete
whirl with no true images at all. He had no idea what had happened, why he was
arrested or who he was. Amnesia, great, that’s what this person had. Oh well,
he would feed Louis well. “I wonder how he got it.” Armand said quietly over my
shoulder as I knelt before the man. His vacant look truly showed that of
someone who was going through a coma not a head scrape wound. “I don’t know.
However that does not matter, we have to get him out of here immediately. Louis
needs to get fed.” “True, but there is something more to this.” “What are you
talking about, Armand? We are wasting valuable time.” Armand reached over to
the man and opened his shirt revealing his jugular. Touching it softly Armand
cocked his head and leaned in for a closer look. Armand was now close enough
that he opened his mouth and quickly drank a gulp for the man, before I could
do anything to stop him. “You little imp, get away from him. He’s for Louis.” I
ripped the young one from the fat man, lifting the comatose male over my
shoulder, and headed towards the door. “What do you think you are doing?”
“Getting him out of here before you kill him and can you take care of the
questions? Thanks.” I smiled and ran out of the hospital, leaving Armand to
deal with the nurses and doctors about the disappearance of their patient.
..................... Out side our home, I knew that Louis was already in his
death sleep. Dawn was no more than an hour away and our helpers would have to
have some rest also. As I opened the door, I carried the body to a vacant room
where no one could hear his screams, should he awaken during the day. Walking
back to the living room, I stepped into Louis’ room and saw my love lying on
the bed with bandages over his head. His hair had been all shaved off and was
located beside his body. “We were able to get the bullet out Lestat, but he
will be unconscious for a few days.” Marius said behind me. “Where is Armand?”
At that moment, the front door burst opened and the wannabe teenager stepped
in. I closed the door and headed back to the living room where Armand stood
there glaring at me. “Don’t you ever do that again!” Armand yelled and pointed
his finger at me. “Oh please, put the theatrics aside and tell me why you had
to drink from him?” “There were cameras in the bloody place that I had to steal
them just so that no one would come back asking questions about your little
kidnapping. I’m exhausted and tired of having to clean up your fucking mess.”
“Ah, so the truth comes out and you hate cleaning my shit. Well that would not
have happened if you had not decided that you wanted a little snack.” We were
standing in front of each other breathing in deeply and getting all of our
energies ready to fight. “Stop this immediately.” Marius voice broke through
our hatred spell. “Lestat you are in no condition to fight with anybody and
Armand why did you drink from the man.” When neither of us moved nor spoke
David stepped in. “Armand sit over there. Lestat you sit over here with me.”
Finally, we sat in the places that David designated us like good little
schoolboys. “Armand can you please tell us why you did that.” Armand looked at
each of us and settled his eyes on me; “It was a vampire that controlled that
man’s mind.” “What, that can not be.” I said in disbelief. “Do you know who it
is?” Marius rushed in for an answer. Lowering his eyes Armand replied, “No, but
you do Lestat and so does Louis.” Part Five-Lestat- It was to late in the
night to continue with our conversation, we each had to retire for the day.
“Won’t you tell me who it is.” I pleaded with him “No, not now Lestat. You need
to get some rest.” Armand placed his hand on my arm, “The wounds in your body
have not fully recovered.” “What! The news is that bad that you think I won’t
be able to handle it?” How dare he hold this piece of information against me!
Armand just looked at me and disappeared into the room David had given him.
Damn it, the boy knew me well enough that this would not sit well with me for
the rest of the day. Suddenly Armand’s’ face peered through the doorway in my
room, “Oh and by the way Lestat. You looked stunning in the Dior dress. It’s a
pity the model agency never bothered to look for transgender males for their
catalogues.” Smiling he closed my door in a flash leaving me to reminisce about
the past which I thought Louis would never remember and maybe even Armand.
However, I could not smile at the evil cherub as the death sleep came to claim
me for one more day. …………………… Shortly after my making in 1780 I was astounded
by the beauty of the city of Paris. Never with my mortal eyes had I seen the
city as it was. The vision was once again altered when I gave my mother,
Gabrielle, was given the Dark Gift and I learned to see the city for its
wildness and savageness. In her first night she decided to change her dress to
that of a man, being a vampire changed all the rules of mortality, did it not.
Well, I thought I should do the same. Changing into a woman for the fun of it
and to see what reaction, I could get from the men. “I can not believe that you
are putting on that outfit.” My mother exclaimed loudly. “Gabrielle, if you are
allowed to change then so can I, non.” I smiled warmly at her, “Now be a good
mother and tie me up.” She laughed at me request but tied me up the way all the
fashionable ladies were dressed. I was to go to a ball this night and I wanted
all the attention to be fixed on me. “Such an egotist.” Gabrielle said as
though she could read my mind. “I may not be able to read your mind, Lestat,
but I am your mother. Do not forget that.” Now it was my turn to laugh as I
turned around and around in my sapphire dress. The ball as hosted by the Duke
and Duchess of Orleans and they spared no expense on it. There were peacock
feather decorating the velvet curtains and tables filled with more food, than
all of France could ever eat. The party was for the departure of the Duke as he
made his way to the New World, to a city named New Orleans. How befitting for a
Duke. I thought to my self as I stepped from the hallway and into the
courtyard. As I stepped in the courtyard making my way across, I was careful to
not attract the wrong attention of how pale I was and the fact that I was a
girl and by myself. However, it was not too difficult to distract every one
since they were instantly attracted to my beauty. I smiled at all the wishing
men and at the jealous women, who no doubtingly spent umpteen amount of hours
to look half as good as me. “Misha, come back.” I heard a woman cry out. A
little pauper boy came running in from the street. Oh, if there was one taboo
among the elite it was that you never were exposed to those below you. Yet,
this little boy was so cute, he had sandy hair and bright blue eyes. Sometimes
I wish I were a woman just so that I could produce such little bundles of joys.
Then again, who says I cannot do the same as a vampire. The boy, though, never
stopped running. All the women just stared at awe of this child. He continued
through the growing number of guards and seemed to run towards me! How
surprised I was when the boy came running in my direction and hugged my legs. I
bent down to the level of the child and asked in a stern but friendly voice
what he was doing here. “I had to see you personally.” He said rapidly as he
tried to capture his breath. The child was no more than five years old. The
guards were standing by us now, looking down as I talked to this little
commoner. “You know that you are in big trouble, young man.” “Oui, monsieur.
But I had to see you.” How did that child know that I was a man? “You will meet
my son in a city of the moon. There you two will never find peace until the
past is forgiven.” What in the world was this child speaking of! Son? City of
the moon? Is he speaking of the future! This boy is five years old? It cannot
be. Before I realized what had happened the guards picked the child up and took
him to the gates to his worried mother. “Guards, do not punish the child. Let
him be.” No one liked this command but who were they to question me in the end.
The child gave his final look at me and ran towards him mother, who spent no
time scolding the child for such an act. I smiled and headed towards the
ballroom forgetting instantly what the child had told me when a courtesan
appeared before me. It was decades later that I remembered that little child
and his words as I looked down at his son playing the piano. He was named
Michel and had an uncanny resemblance to his old man. This boy became my joy
and only salvation when my two fledglings were no more than a constant bore to
me. His view of the world and the arts in particular was of great excitement to
me. I fell in love with him immediately and spent many hours with him. The
night that my daughter turned against me was incidentally the night I turned
Michel into one of us. It was with his help that I got out of the swamp and
made my way to my second death. It was also he who left me after years of my
being a tiresome, cowardly vampire. It was Michel finally, that had walked out
in bitterness of what I had promised to be, but never was in the end.
……………………………. As I awoke from my death sleep, it hit me instantly that it was
this lone vampire that I had never truly cared about who had shot the most
beloved person in this world. My fledgling had come for his revenge against me
at last. Part Six-Michel- Michel stared at the laying figure on the bed. This
figure that his maker had loved more than life itself. I loathe you, Louis. You
are the cause of all my pain and suffering. However, his maker could not go
without fault. He was disappointed that the old bugger had not died immediately
and having followed everyone to Royal St. he had failed to notice that the man
was still alive. By now surely all would know that he was involved in this
charade. If not by name at least by nature. Damn, how am I going to fix this?
His plan at reuniting with his maker would never go through if he did not think
of something quickly. -Louis- Louis knew that a few nights had passed as he lay
on the bed recovering. Lestat, David, Armand, and Marius were always close to
make sure that the wounds would disappear soon. He recalled that the first
night after the incident, Lestat had fed him the culprit who had done this to
them. How sweet of him to feed me a meal that he surely would have loved to
have. This made Louis smile. Yet there was something else behind all this. They
all knew it. They never spoke of it within his presence, but would hint at the
subject matter. “I don’t care what you think Lestat it has to be done.” David
said as he entered the room. Lestat followed his youngest fledgling to his
brothers beside. “David there has to be another way. Surely you can not mean to
actually to go through with it.” Lestat pleaded as he saw David touch Louis
head. What in the world are they speaking about? “I would truly love to know
what your problem is Lestat. Do you or do you not wish for him to get better.”
“But must you cut his hair!” “You are beyond pathetic, Lestat.” Louis laughed
as he heard this. It hurt his body but it felt good at the same time. “At least
I’m not the one with a penis fetish.” Louis rumbled once more with laughter
that made his body ache. “Oh, please like dressing in women’s clothing is not
bad enough!” David retorted back to his maker. “David you are really slow.”
Lestat shook his head in disappointment, “I can not believe that you have not
figured it out that I have spilt personalities. With one of them being a
woman.” “Then this must be her on PMS.” Louis laughed again and opened his eyes
to see two sets of eyes staring down at him. “That explains a lot about you
then.” Louis said with a croaked voice. “Told you.” David said as Lestat handed
him what seemed to Louis a set of keys to a car. Louis closed his eyes at this
not believing that those two had placed a bet on who could make him open his
eyes. “Louis, love how do you feel?” “Much better, thank you.” Trying to sit
up, Lestat aided his awakening sleeping beauty. “Lestat, what is it that you
are hiding from me.” Louis finally asked. Looking at David, Lestat did not wish
to answer but knew that it would help him if he kept this secret. “We know who
was behind the shooting.” “I thought I killed him.” Louis said, completely
alert staring at Lestat and David. “We believe that he was mentally manipulated
to shoot the two of you.” David answered; not wishing to disclose what Lestat
needed to say. “We believe that it was another vampire.” “Who?” Was all Louis
could say as his mind raced with vampire names that could do this to them.
“Michel.” Lestat said in a whisper. David suddenly turned to the window and
stared at it like a cat.
