Traveling To Atlantic City Under A Tight Budget

Article Description:
====================

Atlantic City, land of gambling, entertainment, and alcoholics
was in fact originally settled by the Lenni-Lenape Indians on
Absecon Island. In the 1600's the Indians were partial to the
ocean and the vast amounts of game and nature found on the
island. Quickly, this all changed in the late 1670's when the
first Europeans and Thomas Budd came to take control of acquiring
the island. Eventually, a man named Jeremiah Leeds became the
first European to set up a building on the island in 1785 and his
future family started the first businesses. The Leeds became the
founders of the fabulous Atlantic City.

Soon railroads for easier
transportation to the mainland, hotels, houses, and businesses
were erected in the mid-19th century. In 1921 Miss America
pageants made their debut and entertainment shows for the public
were blooming across the shore. Finally, the Casino Gambling
Referendum was passed in 1976 and Atlantic City officially began
its' transformation into the bold establishments of enjoyment it
proffers today. Millions of people visit Atlantic City every year
for affordable entertainment.

There are many cheap deals for taking weekend trips out to the
East coast and tamer version of Vegas. Alternatives for spending
less and still having fun should always be a priority in
traveling. The first obligation of course is to configure the
best way to travel. A typical car rental service can cost
averagely between $30 and $60 per day. Keep in mind those are the
cheap car rental prices. However, taking the train is a much
cheaper alternative. For a round trip to Atlantic City from New
York, the fee is normally priced around $68. If people take the
train though, they also have to find means of transportation to
get to their hotel and entertainment places. Additional cab fare
can surmount up to almost the same fee as just renting a car
service. Parking is also free for cars in several areas around
Atlantic City sites. Another alternative for out of state
travelers, is finding cheap air-fair. Spirit Airlines usually has
pretty good deals and going to cheapflights.com is a good start
at finding some of the best air deals.

Instead of staying at a ritzy and glamorous hotel, save money by
staying at a regular inn or a cheap hotel closely located outside
of the main Atlantic City attractions. Inside of Atlantic City,
good deals can be found with the Sunset Inn, Fairfield Inn,
Ramada Limited, El Greco Motel, and Golden East Hotel. All are
conveniently priced in the $50-60 range. If travelers are willing
to sleep slightly ghetto style for a few bucks cheaper, there are
several hotels situated right next to the Atlantic City Airport.
A Howard Johnson, Super 8 Motel, and the Econo Lodge Absecon have
rates as low as $50 a night.

Once settled down, have a drink and take a stroll down the
boardwalk. The area provides entertainment venues such as
Hollywood Planet, Ripley's Believe it or Not, and the Hard Rock
Café. The Steel Pier is closely similar to an East coast version
of the Santa Monica Pier in California. The pier provides for
guests' enjoyment, amusement park rides, carnival games, several
souvenir stands, and food courts.

Enough Casinos glitter the boardwalk to drive a gambler insane.
Bally's is known for its' high class style because they
elaborately decorate with Italian marble, murals, and paintings.
One of Bally's Casinos, appropriately named Park Place, has a
19th Century Hotel and a Western-themed casino town with shops,
spas, and numerous restaurants. Donald Trump is another major
owner in the Atlantic City casino business. Most of his casinos
aim to draw in a younger crowd and decorate their buildings with
Trump model billboards.

Caesar's, Harrah's, and the Showboat Casinos all draw customers
in with their gaudy themes. Caesar pays tribute to ancient Rome
with their style of décor. Additionally, it is the highest
rolling casino in Atlantic City because there are very few limits
on their betting tables. Harah's showcases a Broadway-styled
theme and has an under the sea style dining area. The Showboat
Casino has grown into a Mardi Gras party and includes live
entertainment of Dixie bands. The Tropicana is an additional
casino worth visiting because jazz legend Michael Pedecin plays
on the 20th floor several times a week and the prices are
relatively affordable.

If the casinos haven't convinced people to start traveling to
Atlantic City yet, the shopping and marina are other sites worth
visiting. Shopping can be found at The walk, The quarter at
Tropicana, Main Street, Atlantic Ave, and The Boardwalk District.
The Historic Gardners Basin is another great place to view over
50,000 gallons of water teeming with aquatic life and animals.
Guests can also take boat rides and fish at affordable rates.
