Hi Enrico - Just to see what this method would produce, I installed both Paraview and MeshLab on my Fedora 35 system. I opened a .lox file of the cave in Loch (which displays a 3d rendering of the cave) and then exported it to a .vtk file. I opened the .vtk file in Paraview. It shows nothing. I cannot find the export function. The Save data feature does not offer x3d as a file type.
In Paraview the Information tab says there are zero cells, zero points and zero memory used. The x-, y- and z-range are "not available". The .vtk file exists and is about 16k bytes (it is a small cave). Am I missing something? ======== Bill Gee On Thursday, January 27, 2022 7:52:57 AM CST Enrico Fratnik wrote: > Hi Bill, > > normally I export the VTK model of the cave from LOCH then I open it > with ParaView > With ParaView I export the model in x3d format and I open it with MeshLab > where I use the filter "Surface Reconstruction: Screened Poisson" with > pre-clean option active > After that with the filter "Compute Geometric Measures" you can retrieve > the volume on the log view. > > My big issue is which model is better to export with therion in order to > obtain an acceptable volume: the one with "-wall-source splays" or with > "-wall-source maps"? > > Hope this helps > > good caves to everyone > > enrico > > On Thu, Jan 27, 2022 at 1:37 PM Bill Gee <b...@campercaver.net> wrote: > > > Hello everyone - > > > > Several years ago I made a map of a small cave.
