I believe the way Sky Captain came about was it was the director's personal project. The direct spent two years in his home creating a trailer and then was able to get funding. Speaking as an artist who understands the process of creating something visual when a project hits you can really lose yourself into it. This movie showed the amount of belief the director/artist had for this film. I have watched this film without sound and it is a gorgeous film.
This film hooked me with the scene of the mooring of the zepplin to the Empire State Building in a snowstorm. It film looked like it was filmed like pinhole photography. The use of Sir Laurence was great. This was a fun movie for me that was very visually appealing. I have seen far worse acting in blockbuster films I really believe that no one knew what this film was. I saw this film opening night and it was dead. One guy did cheer when Jolie used the jetpack. Yay, Jet Packs! I the genre fan base (I will try not to use the term Fan boy) did not come out for this film because, like Baron Munchausen the studios did not know how to advertise this film. I never saw Speed racer, no seizures here. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Unique Geek" group.
