Judd actually did a nice job summing some of it up for me in the article...
"Winick joked that he's the most reviled writer in comics who rams his agenda on books and characters and makes characters gay."
 
The only thing he left out is that he hasn't had an original idea in about 10 years.  Everything he's done has been copied or mimicked from someone else.
