1. I think it was a dark laugh on two levels. First you get the APOCALYPSE NOW thing going on and also there is the reference to the Hollis Mason excerpt from the first issue.
2. I thought Malin Ackerman brought a likability and vulnerability that Laurie didn't have in the comic. She was one of the more enjoyable aspects to the movie. 3. Holy crap yes. That nose kept getting bigger throughout the film. 4. I didn't like this, but that is a total fanboy thing. I loved in the book how you saw the headline stating that RR was going to run in '88 and then it is revealed that it was Robert Redford. Still, yeah. 5. I thought much the same thing. 6. Apparently this is one of the scenes that is getting extended in the director's cut. More gore from what I understand. 7. I'm learning to live with the ending. I didn't quite buy it as it was unfolding and I thought it took away from the overall film but it could have been much, much worse. Then again I would have been fine with the giant squid and after reading the comic again I think it was the better ending. I am still firming up my overall opinions. I'll get them out at some point. Though I do have to agree with Salmon's assertion that the "Desolation Row" during the end credits was very much, "Thanks for coming. NOW LEAVE!"
