I'm surprised Shag didn't school me. The Doc calls River "Professor Song". My bad.

He really embraced the role right off the cricket bat. Holly and I watched 'The Three Doctors' ep from the 70s last week just for comparison, and it was neat to see how much the character has stayed the same. While the special effects were classic Whovian, the story (dealing with the first Gallifreian to make time travel possible) was an interesting prequel to last season's finale. As to not liking Amy Pond?!?!? The only thing that prevents here from being one of the most adorable things ever is that she is 5'11" (according to IMDB). 5'3" is cuter than over 6' in heels. You have to prefer her to Donna, though, right? Gahhg, I hated her. The only thing I don't like about Amy character is Rory. Yes, the last Doctor was developing a relationship with Rose, but I was hoping Amy and #11 would have a real 'relationship' relationship. But I guess that would have messed up things with River Song. Ok, I guess, her talking about wanting to, or at least being ok with the idea of, 'snog' the Doc right after her wedding (and having actually done it the relative night before) doesn't quite fit with my traditional values, but hey, after Capt. Jack, you can't quite get hung up on those things. Speaking of River, while Alex Kingston (sp.) is a great actress, I think they should have picked a younger/hotter chick. Better than Donna, though. Also, did they mess up her timeline intentionally or unintentionally? In the eps about the angels, the Doc calls her 'Doctor Song'' and she's says something like, 'Oh, so, I'll be a doctor one day?", indicating she isn't one, yet. But in the last eps of the series, the earliest in her timeline, she already is a doctor. Hey, time is all wonkety wiggledy woo, so, her path could have changed, but it seems an arbitrary thing to change. Or did I just completely mess that up? ~Ron ________________________________ From: Edward Crosby <[email protected]> To: TUG <[email protected]> Sent: Mon, July 19, 2010 10:26:54 AM Subject: [The Unique Geek] Dr. Who season and season finale discussion - **Spoilers** Even though BBC America aired part 1 of the season finale this past weekend, my household couldn't wait until this coming Saturday for part 2 so we watched it this past Saturday night. Although it wasn't that great a season finale it was still much, much better than all the Davies season finales combined. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this season finale but I didn't think it was fantastic. Overall, again, I was a bit disappointed with the entire season. I absolutely love Matt Smith's Dr. Who but I felt the entire season was a bit of a let down due to high expectations that Moffat was going to bring us some really great episodes. One major annoyance for me is Amy Pond. I did NOT like this character at all. As a matter of fact one of the best episodes in the entire season was the episode The Lodger mainly because she was barely in it. As the season finale progressed from part 1 to part 2 I was really hoping she would get killed off and we would not see her next season. Even though she did not get killed off I am still hoping she doesn't come back next season.
