I haven't seen any of the new season. I used to "obtain" the
episodes, but it came that everytime I went to the site to "obtain" a
new episode, I got another virus on my machine, so I said the hell
with it. So I am going to have to wait for them to come on SciFi as I
do not get BBC America on my TV package. I'll have to look up when
they start airing.

Anyways. I wanted to comment on the various comments about Amy and
River and Donna and Martha and Rose. Amy, well, she looks cute in
pictures but please reference my first paragraph. River, I remember
her from the Library episodes and I didn't like her then. I don't
like the actress, all I can see when I see her is that snobby,
irritating surgeon from ER -- the British one, that is. All of the
characters on that show were irritating! Martha and Rose, well, the
first episode of Dr. Who I ever recall watching was "Rose" so they
form a weird dichotomy for me, with Rose as the Mary-Sue and Martha as
the tool to remind everyone that "Hey, remember Rose? She was great.
I miss Rose." Of all of the Doctor's traveling companions since this
shindig started up the only one I liked is Donna, who was much more
real and honest a character than any of these other folks. Donna also
showed a trait which the others lacked -- compassion. Martha, for a
med student, seemed awfully heartless a lot of the time. In the
Library episodes, when Ms. Clymenestra or whatever her name was is
dying, and Donna breaks down and says it was the most horrible thing
she had ever seen, that was heartfelt. Same in Turn Right in the
alternate universe. I was very happy when the Doctor finally gave her
mother the business at the end of, uh, End of Time I guess.

I like Matt Smith's look as a dweebie Doctor, a nice change of pace
from Mr. Super-Serious and then the Hipster Geek. We'll see how I
like his personality. You have to understand, that in my personal
perusing of Dr. Who in the aftermath of watching the new stuff, the
Doctor I like the best (from both TV and audio plays) is Colin Baker,
so do with that information what you will. (Of course I do wish they
had done like Baker wanted and given his Doctor something austere to
wear, but thats neither here nor there.)
