I'm a Johnny-Come-Lately to Doctor Who, so I can't really comment on the classic series too much. And I haven't seen the latest season, so this list will be somewhat shorter!
1. Donna 2. Rose 3. Martha 4. Jack 5. River (Left off: Amy, Rory.) Donna is far and away the best of this group. She and the Doctor were a great team, and her point of view with all the craziness almost always brought a smile to my face. She had some of my favorite moments and episodes from the entire run. Turn Left was great, her role in Fires of Pompeii was very memorable, she did excellent comedy (ie, The Lion And The Wasp), and her reaction to the death of Miss Evangelista was extremely heartfelt and soulful. Rose rates second because she was the first one I watched, and she had some fiestiness but she got very grating, especially with Tenant. Martha barely had a character and was more of a stand-in than anything else. I had great expectations of her and none of them came true. Jack was shoved down my throat over and over and over and he's just not interesting in the least. Any time he showed up it drew groans from this viewer. And River Song, based solely on Silence In The Library and Forest Of The Dead, is atrocious; I hate characters introduced for the specific reason of being "special" and she is a very good example of that particular trope. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Unique Geek" group.
