The good- Win7 slates will put pressure on Apple to innovate and improve the value of the iPad to consumers. The bad- a full OS won't work on a touchscreen device, and Microsoft doesn't have enough control of the end product to produce as clean a product as Apple. I still think Android/chromium will offer the best competition in the tablet market. They have a consumer base to build from, and a tailored product that is easier to translate to new devices than shoehorning a full OS into a platform that can't exploit what it offers.
