Luke- Yep, the numbers over the last few years have been strong indicators of how rapidly BGG.Con is gaining its legs. Each year, they add about 10% to the growth capacity. In 2010, the tickets sold out in a month. This year, they were gone in 3 DAYS. I believe the current cap is set at 1,000 attendees. After 5 years at the current Westin hotel, they've hit their capacity and next year are relocating to the DFW Airport Hyatt, which should allow for double or triple growth. There was some bellyaching about the rapidity of the sell-out this year, but the hardcore BGG community are the ones paying attention and securing their tickets as soon as the window opens. The organizers have a very specific non-scalping policy, so that proves that those buying the tickets are those who're attending. Failing that, there is an excellent ticket exchange/waiting list that helps those in need. I met many couples last year, both spouses and girlfriends- most of whom were return attendees for 3+ years. While the attendance is about 85%-15% male to female, that's actually a better demographic than the website userlog. The secret to their success? No attendees under age 16. This con is becoming an excursion for the grown-ups. :-) Without a doubt, this has been my favorite con experience so far. Pleasant gaming, manageable crowds, and minimal BO.
