What a great trilogy that is.

The RAVENOR trilogy that follows it is even better, IMO.

You just can't go wrong with Dan Abnett-- unless you're talking FORCE
WORKS comics from back in the 1990s, of course. :-)

Coincidentally, I just finished reading Abnett's LEGION (from the
Horus Heresy series) and it was excellent and very inspirational.
Rarely do I roll from one book to another by the same author,
consecutively, but I'm now reading SALVATION'S REACH, Abnett's latest
"Gaunt's Ghosts" novel. 100 pages in, it's fantastic, too.

I care next to nothing about the war game these books are meant to
help market. I also care very little for any of the other WH40K
authors. But Abnett is something very special and I enjoy just about
every book (and comic) he puts out, these days.

His HORUS RISING and LEGION are very strong influences on my HAWK
novel that I am hard at work on right now, in fact. WH40K fans who
read HAWK may spot a lot of things that make them say, "Hey!" :-)
