The history is gone, most likely. From what we saw of Earth 2 (the planet) in Earth 2 (the comic) #1, the history of the JSA and all that from the original Earth-2 has been caught up in the New 52 Reboot. I doubt that Alan Scott was ever straight in the New 52 Universe.
Although, to be fair, I think James Robinson (the writer) made a good point in his interview on Newsarama, saying that Alan is a handsome, strapping, charismatic leader who people gravitate towards, and that his sexual orientation is a secondary trait to his magnetism, charm, and leadership. I think Shag's point was just that there was a lot of great history there with the previous version of the character which now will most likely be forgotten about by the vast majority of comics readers since DC is strongly pushing this new angle.
