Flashing back to 2004 is not a weird experience for me.
 
I had been living in Clemson by myself, working at the university library.  
I moved to Aiken to live with the girl who would become my wife, but I was 
pretty miserable because I was working a lousy, soul-murdering job in a 
wheel factory.  To the point that it drove me to go back to school in 2005 
for my Master's Degree.  This choice changed my life and put me on a much 
different trajectory.  So while 2004 did lead some good things it was a 
pretty depressing year.
 
Not sure what this DreamCon you speak of is though...
