Michael - I agree that other writers will come along and change/grow the
character as much or more.  However, I don't know if strong sales will
follow.  There is some cult of purchasing that follows Geoff Johns and
Grant Morrison around DC.  If they are on a title, it sells well.  When
they leave the title, many readers drop it and sales take a real hit (and
usually don't bounce back).
