I remember enjoying it as a boy. It was memorable output from the Star
Wars-driven content that ruled that time period. Seemed really cool and stylish
for the time. I haven't re-watched it in over thirty years, so I'm mostly
ignorant to the finer points of its plot or its charms. If it means anything,
I've not gotten the autographs from the cast at Dragon Con, and getting
autographs is all I do there.

1) It was weird seeing the guy from Bonanza in a different show
2) The bear/dog robot thing was cute
3) The show was on maybe too late for me to watch? Or my family watched
something else? So, I mostly knew it from its dangerous missle-firing toys
4) A commercial for a later episode in which they reach Earth has an adult
telling the kids, "You'll be able to run faster than and jump higher than the
children of Earth!" and the kids cheer, and I was jealous and furious
5) The cylons were super cool

The new BSG has many cool plot points and memorable episodes beyond tent city.
Might be worth your time. The best end point might be the middle of Season 4.

Raven, out of curiousity, what is your opinion on the original BSG?

I ask because I really enjoy the original, and really dug the remake until the
whole "New Caprica" tent city angle at which point I ended up dropping the
series. So I have heard a lot about the balance of the show, both good and
bad, but have no opinion yet since I have not seen it all.

Won't watch it or anything related to BSG after the way the series ended.
Rarely gone from such deep love to such deep hate. The finale was like being
bitten by the family dog.

Lost had a terrible ending, but they gave you a whole season of terrible
episodes to slowly get you used to the idea. BSG just up and stank all at once,
broke loose for a long run, then just stepped out of bounds on the two yard
line.

Won't watch Caprica, won't watch Blood and Chrome, won't read the comic. Will
boo writers if see at convention. Will risk arrest and removal to lustily boo
them. They are guilty of war crimes.

It's ok. Worth watching. Production quality is high, or at least the same as
the series.
