I ended up picking up Buck Rogers on DVD for a tenner last year, and I find that compared to BSG, it has better character development and a strong presence in the lead from Gil Gerrard. BSG, on the other hand, has more creative stories (plus a few recycled Westerns) and a much better presence from the heavies with the Cylons. I like both shows in a "corny fun" sort of way. I got into both of them in the 90s when they were common filler on Sci-Fi Channel, so I'm the oddball in that sense.
