I believe so, but I still think it is years away. Even though Steam has ports to Linux and OS X for some games they will still need the assistance from the major game studios, like EA and Ubisoft, before we see every PC game released being playable on other operating systems other than Windows. However, the failure that is Windows 8 may be what was needed for that extra push. One of the major hurdles I see in this, though, is DRM. Look at Netflix as an example regarding DRM. Even though there are workarounds out there to install Netflix on Linux, Netflix is not supported on Linux because, apparently, DRM doesn't work so well in that OS, and that doesn't bode well with the studios. EA is a strong advocate of DRM and, unless there are some changes, EA will not be rushing to support their games on Linux.
