Cary, I think you mean Gamera instead of Gammorah.  Ultraman is a live 
action show, and he's not a robot, but the Ultra series is certainly an 
inspiration.
 
Tranzor Z's "real" name is Mazinger Z.  Other super robot shows include 
Brave Raideen, Gaiking, Dangard Ace, Combattler V, Might Gaine, Golion 
(Lion Voltron here in the States), the list goes on.  Google "Super robot 
anime" and you'll be shocked at the amount of them.  
 
The militaristic aspect of the robots also touches on "Real robot anime," 
the main example of which is Mobile Suit Gundam.
