I use the IM part of Google's talk/hangouts/etc. daily on my iPad and MacBook.
(messages allows multiple accounts and works via Jabber). I don't use it for
video because the quality and connectivity on FaceTime has been much better for
me. I wish Jobs had held to his word and made FaceTime an open standard like he
originally stated. Most of my SMS has been via Messages, and I use my MacBook
to respond to texts as often as my phone.
No love for Skype. It's been buggy and the user experience has been poor for
me.
