Hey Luke! I've got suggestions for good Kirk-era novels, but unfortunately
none of them fit the "regular episode" mold. They all are "events" or
flashbacks.

   - "Strangers from the Sky" -- My top recommendation. Kirk's Enterprise
with flashbacks to "First Contact" with Vulcans (this was published years
before the First Contact movie, so the continuity is different.)
   - "Final Frontier"; and followed by "Best Destiny" -- Stories about Kirk
and his dad while growing up.
   - "Crossover" -- STNG novel with surviving Kirk cast
   - "Lost Years" -- Between TOS and Kirk movies
   - "Dreadnought " and "Battlestations" -- Kirk era regular adventures,
but focuses a lot on new characters.

It's been years since I've read these, but I recall they were very good.
 Hope this helps!
