Saw it yesterday. Enjoyable, fun flick; but dwelling on it isn’t a good thing. The faux Empire isn’t well explained, and who the hell was the hologram guy that’s taken the place of the Emperor? The villains were entirely too cardboard. Harrison Ford is way too old for action movies, but I’m glad for the closure on the character.
The force has require extensive training for acolytes to be able to use it for magic tricks, yet here is someone that’s able to stand down a well-trained dark side user with NO training, or even a real understanding of what it is? OK, but it really breaks canon. How many moon/planet sized death machines can the Empire or whoever build and have destroyed before it’s just financially impossible to replicate? Having five habitable planets destroyed just didn’t seem to have much of a lasting effect on the Rebellion. That’s potentially billions of lives, and their only link to a legitimate form of government gone in a flash, yet no one seems to be bothered more than losing a fighter (which they also didn’t seem to have too many of) It restored my faith in the franchise. Those prequels were just god awful. This was a fun popcorn flick with little actual plot or story, but I’m ok with that. If I want story I’ll go back and watch The Martian again. > On Dec 21, 2015, at 8:25 AM☀️, Luke Jaconetti <[email protected]> wrote: > > Just going to open this up for anyone who wants to discuss The Force Awakens > with spoilers. > > My wife and I saw it on a Saturday show in 2D.
