Sorry for the delays in my responses, I've been pretty busy at work lately.
Anyway, they do not. That's how I noticed the issue, there was a specific book that I used to use to test with and hadn't in a while, so decided to use again and it didn't show up in the search. ...rather, they did not. Yesterday I had to get our code working in a production environment locally to test some issues and thus ran through the ThinkingSphinx config and index rake tasks. When I switched back to local dev settings just now, all of my Assets are back. I'm sad we didn't get to really resolve this...since it's working now, my guess is that there was some stale something-or-other lying around that got cleaned out when I set TS up for production.
