I've been successfully running Sphinx with TS2 over a UNIX socket for each
application on a server. Each application needs to maintain its own
indexes. Now trying to get TS3 to work with a Unix socket and while it will
configure Sphinx to listen on a UNIX socket given the "listen" setting I
can't get TS3 to connect without complaining about a MySQL connection to
localhost. TS3 won't accept a UNIX socket path for address, port or mysql41
settings and it doesn't pay any attention to listen as far as I can tell.
Is this feature gone? Do I need to pull this new app back to TS2 to make it
work? If its gone is there a good reason for it, I've been using the UNIX
sockets as it means each application can have a common sphinx socket path
within its own directory space and we don't have to worry about tracking
TCP port allocations for conflicts between apps.
