I'm still looking for clues as to meaning of blue screens on a T40, XP SP3.

Perhpas this is an obvious question to the most, but not to me. I have a
cluster of BSODs recently with no new hardware, and the system is restarting
itself despite having that checkbox cleared under Startup & Recovery
Properties. No mindumps are being created, though there was at least one Dr
Wtsn log entry.  The old log file is now 72MB, so I've renamed it to cause it
to start afresh, but in any case none of the application errors seem to have
caused the blue screens.

So what should I do to
i) Make a informed diagnosis as to whether this is hardware or software? It
seems like hardware to me, based on experience.
ii) Present the right info to EZ serve so I don't get run around reformatting
etc. I don't think that's productive.
iii) How can I get some minimal crash data recorded and stop the thing from
rebooting until I can note the error screen?  It's ignororing the checkbox in
Startup and Recovery options and doesn't write the minidump anywhere on C. The
page file has 4G (fixed) on C, supposedly that's enough. The remainder of the
page file is on another partition.

I've set a chkdsk to be done this evening. I have PC doctor, can I run enough
tests from within windows or do I need to create a boot CD? (No floppy drive).

Perhaps this machine is wearing out, even though it has a service contract the
replacement parts are used, so it's useful life has an end date nearing. (?)

I'm taking the liberty of asking the same question a second time. If it's not
answerable I'll desist from posting it again.

thanks
