One of my - actually my grand-daughter's - T43s died yesterday. The symptom is that when the power button is pressed, the two lights on the left come on for a second and then turn off. Nothing appears on the screen.
I've tried taking out the battery, pressing the power button for 40 seconds (also 17 times, as suggested somewhere), and trying to boot from the mains without battery. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Is it likely to be the CMOS battery? Incidentally, I now have two sick T43s - this one, and one I fell out of bed onto, which works fine but has a large spider in the middle of the screen. How difficult would it be to swap the screens on the two machines? On a scale of 1 to 10, with removing keyboard = 4? Any advice or suggestions gratefully received. -- Timothy Murphy e-mail: gayleard /at/ eircom.net tel: +353-86-2336090, +353-1-2842366 s-mail: School of Mathematics, Trinity College, Dublin 2, Ireland _______________________________________________ Thinkpad mailing list [email protected] http://stderr.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/thinkpad
