Pinkish/reddish hue equals nothing but a backlight (CCFL) in the LCD going bad.

You can replace the backlight yourself, but it's quite a tedious job.

Given that you're dealing with a standard 14" LCD for T4x series, you're likely
better off replacing the whole LCD, or swapping an entire lid.

Good luck.

Cheers,

George

Subject: [Thinkpad] Screen going pink (T41)

I know this is one of the oldest questions....

My T41's LCD screen has started to go pink. It's subtle, it's uniform, and
it's
consistent. (I.e. It's not just at the bottom, and it doesn't clear up when
the
computer's been on for a while.)

What's breaking and how long before it breaks completely?

Thanks -

TK
