The ONLY new ThinkPad with IPS (actually AFFS) panels are X200 tablet models.
All the other machines have garbage-quality TN panels, whether LED-lit or
conventional CCFL.

Having said that, if you don't have a requirement for high-end graphics, you
should also look into R400.

Cheers,

George

Nope. Starting with the T60, there's a 20V supply with a new plug.?

buy a refurb T400 with LED backlight and also can get a draft N?

wireless??

I'm afraid only you can answer just how much each option is worth to
you. My eyes are fading too, but I enjoy the smooth text edges at higher
resolution. Remember that Flexview screens are back on some of the new
ThinkPads, but your budget will have to adapt.?

As you like it, but Windows 7 (coming out soon) will be much more
compatible with XP than Vista is. It has about the same system
requirements as Vista too.?
?

I think the dual-core and 64-bit processors are the way to go, along
with the faster memory and hard drives of the newer machines, so I'd
start with the T60. However, the T61 is less power hungry if battery
life is important.?
?

For me? I'd probably go with the T400, since ThinkPads last forever and
upgrades will get cheaper for a good long while.?
