Believe it or not, I have two T42's that look just about new, I mean they are MINT. The USB ports do work too. They are in the price range as well, although I don't know how the ones you saw were equipped and what condition they were in. These appear to need nothing at all, and are fully recovered to IBM XP PRO with everything working. The only problem is, I have no way to take credit cards except with PayPal. If it is a known institution and they want to cut a check, we could do that too.

BTW, I also have nice T60's with warranty for not too much more than that. Even a T60p wide screen with warranty. So unless there is a need for a T42 for compatibility (OK, I admit it is one of my favorite machines) a T60 is possibility a better value. Of course, in these times cheap is good. ----- Original Message ----- From: "STeve Andre'" <[email protected]>

Subject: [Thinkpad] Looking for some older thinkpads

At the Dayton Hamvention a few weeks ago, I saw a lot of older
thinkpads, like T42's going for about $300. I now find that my work
could use two such machines. Does anyone have some older, cheap
machines? I cannot use paypal--I have to use our departmental
credit card. It would be nicest if I could find two of the same type.

  Any nibbles?

Thanks, STeve Andre'
