Nope, the battery warranty ends after one year and can not be renewed.

Subject: [Thinkpad] Warranty question
I have an X31 that has been out of warranty for a few years... It also has
a
battery on it's very last legs. I was planning on using the current 20%
off
code (USPOPTIONSSP) to buy a Lenovo battery when I noticed that the code
also works on the Warranty FRU's. Here's the catch -- they don't provide
any description of exactly what the warranty covers.
My hope is I could buy a "3 yr battery CRU " (saving $20) and then trade
in
the failing battery.
Does anyone know if I would be likely to meet with success getting them to
replace the original battery on this now 5 year old laptop if got it back
under a warranty?
Can anyone also explain the other warranty abbreviations? OS, TPP?
