The eBay batteries for about a fourth the price of the Lenovo ones usually work perfectly well if you do not go to cheaply... we have had superb luck over the past two years with an eBay seller named Battery Monsters... about equal to Lenovo... but the X31 batteries probably sit on the shelf a bit longer.
I would be surprised if you can get that one "... back under warranty..." after five years... unless it had a three or four year warranty originally... the people at Lenovo have been less generous lately on personal versions that were not part of a business purchase.
