Nope. Don't agree. 8611 is a trackpoint error. That is an ancient system, and won't use a USB mouse by default. If you plug in a standard mouse (using a keyboard/mouse splitter of course) it may be disabled and you may get in. Or not. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]>

Subject: [Thinkpad] 600X makes my head spin

There is another 600X which I have - and love. But this love ceases...

What have the programmers thought or where they on drugs when they coded the BIOS for that otherwise lovely series?

I have just somehow broken my Trackpoint.

For finding this out I tried to disable it (mouse was only moving out of control), but upon reboot it seems impossible to at least get into the BIOS, it just says "8611" and then reboots. No chance.

What were those programmers at? I could nail them.

Now what can I do until my replacement keyboard arrives?

I need to at least be able to get into the bios to disable that trackpoint, wouldnt you agree?

Help appreciated.

Ah yes, and shoot the 600-bios-programmers!! :-)
