Hello: Most likely cause: Ball Grid Array issue with video chipset. Resolution: Some manual 'fixes' seem to work (I have my own personal resolution which has been working for me for over a month now), but the recommended course of action:
MotherBoard replacement. Cheap enough on ebay (I'm stating this proposal in lieu of warranty given the vintage of the model you have). Users here have referred to the (usual) immediate resolution of a MB replacement via lenovo (no questions asked) when warranty guidelines apply. Feel free to research more on the web (if interested) about this 'general problem' (T30's, T40's and beyond). Good luck. The screen has started to display a wavy, static-like picture after about 30 - 45 minutes of use. If the machine is turned off then immediately turned back on the static remains. If the machine remains off for a few hours it takes the 30 - 45 minutes for the problem to reoccur. I checked to make sure the fan was still running and it is. I searched the group archives and could not find a similar issue. Any suggestions as to what might be causing the problem? Is it worth repairing? Thanks!
