I followed the advice found on the list, and invested in a T43 as my trusty T23 finally died on me a second time, with the screen going out. I have heard that Vista has nice features for process management. I think someone mentioned it handles programs more along the lines of the completely fair scheduler (CFS) written into more recent linux kernels.
I installed the upgrade advisor for Vista and it said my machine would work well with Business edition which is fine by me. I have 1GB (will be upgrading to 2GB soon) 1.86GHz (may upgrade to the 2200) etc. I have a 2669-CTO model I believe it mentioned. Wanted to know if the app was correct. Will I need to kill aero and disable a host of features to get it running reasonably well? Or have all the initial compatibility issues been worked out for systems to actually support Vista...Aero and all? Can I do a clean upgrade from XP pro? Thanks in advance for any feedback given. -- I've discovered the key to success is to never give up. You either learn the right way, or you run out of ways to do it wrong. A win/win situation! _______________________________________________ Thinkpad mailing list [email protected] http://stderr.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/thinkpad
