I'm on the phone with them now. There is no 640G disk--yet. The person that I talked to said that the 640G disk would be out late in the year, but upon looking at the info again, he couldn't find it--it had been pulled.
So, 640G disks were on the way at one point the preliminary data has been retracted. The question is if SSDs did this or if they hit some problem with the disk that will delay things. Time will tell. The 640G external disk is two 320's. --STeve Andre' On Tuesday 07 July 2009 02:28:56 Aryeh Goretsky (home) wrote: > Hello, > > Assuming I am reading this right, Seagate is now listing 640GB 2.5" > SATA drives on their web site: > > Web page: > <http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.jsp?locale=en-US&name=st906403fga2e1-rk- >fa-go2-640gb-hd&vgnextoid=402bef5dc75e1210VgnVCM1000001a48090aRCRD&vgnextcha >nnel=8b9835a5ef34c110VgnVCM100000f5ee0a0aRCRD&reqPage=Model> > > Data Sheet: > <http://www.seagate.com/docs/pdf/datasheet/disc/ds_fa_go.pdf> > > The latter gives dimensions of 3.15" (80mm) x 5.12" (130mm) x 0.49" > (12.5mm), which sounds like an enclosure for a 2.5" disk drive to me. > > I wonder if/when they will show up as bare drives? > > Regards, > > Aryeh Goretsky _______________________________________________ Thinkpad mailing list [email protected] http://stderr.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/thinkpad
