OK, try this First. Part of the fix is to stop the uncontrolled
shutdowns and startups.
This will hopefully stop the re-starts, so that you can get error
messages... The error messages will help by telling what is wrong...
in very cryptic language, but they are a start to getting your system
working:
Start -> Control –Panel -> System -> System Properties -> Advanced ->
Startup and Recovery -> Settings -> System Failure -> Uncheck
Automatic Restart
Once your system does not have the automatic restart, you should get
error messages.
Post the error message to us, if you get any.
This hopefully will put you back in control.
Ray
Ray and et. al.,
Thank you for your insight and assistance.
Ray, based on your directions, I did disable the Automatic Restart.
Initially I received an error starting with "140/140" something
"Registry" it recycled too quickly to write it all down and thought I
could photo the message with a camera, yet when I restarted, it never
re-appeared.
Still the system will re-boot, on its' own, after clicking on shut down
from the Vista prompt. Shall I let it continue to dry for another day or
so before trying again? I have taken out the battery and DVD to help it
along.
Thank you again and I do appreciate your insights and assistance.
